Dear students,
Welcome to my classroom, where you are free to be yourself and learn in the method that suits you best! My philosophy: Where curiosity and kindness thrive, anything is possible!
Let me introduce myself. My name is Laura Brown-- I have lived in Berlin for over 4 years as an educator, with my husband who teaches music. We have lived and taught here in Berlin, Shenzhen China and in the Northeast of the United States over the last decade.
You can expect in my care, that your student will receive highly individualized instruction which translates to big gains in the traditional classroom. As a bonus, kids will be supported in developing their social emotional skills, which translates to stronger relationships, improved behavioral patterns and deepened communication skills. Through my experience as an educator, it is clear that all students absolutely require individualized attention to thrive. I take this responsibility very seriously. It is a great honor to meet my student's unique needs and I look forward to learning about yours!

With a close eye on building a trusting relationship with my students, I assess their needs from the first meeting and design lesson plans based entirely on the individual's needs. No student is the same in how they learn best, which is why a 1:1 setting is best.
Students can expect to feel safe and comfortable making mistakes in my classroom, because making mistakes and understanding those patterns lead to the deepest learning possible. Every lesson begins with a personal check-in and student self assessment. We make an agenda together based on what the student is struggling with and then address this topic head on. This could mean reteaching the topic with a combination of visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic methods.
I am well qualified to meet student needs in English, Writing, Math, Science, Social Sciences. My training well qualifies me to support students ages 8-14. I have additional training to support adults as a peer editor and English as a second language instructor. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
