Über Thomas
I am a law student in Brazil, with a strong passion for philosophy, political theory and other humanities. I have a dream of teaching and inspiring others in these topics which bring me so much joy and meaning. Currently, I am enrolled at the FUBiS program in the Frei Universität Berlin, doing a course about the relation between psychoanalysis and the arts. For the moment, I am based in the Lichterfelde neighbourhood in Berlin, but am available to teach in person in all regions of the city of Berlin.
I have taught classes as a monitor for specific subject courses in my university (as in the case of the course "Logic I" in the philosophy department curriculum) and helped those seeking to prepare for the admission exam into the public university of my city. I have published academic articles in portuguese, have acted as an editor in an academic journal and have a passion for brazillian culture, with its literature, cinema, music, visual arts and philosophy.
Furthermore, my admission essay into the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul scored 24 out of 25 points, thus classifying as one the highest evaluated ones in my year of admission.
I wish to teach, but also to learn, for but one cannot do one without the other. I hope to learn so much with all of you :).

Connecting topics such as brazilian portuguese grammar, pronunciation, writing skills and culture, the course offers a holistic and systematic approach, suitable for all levels (A1-C2). Extremely personalizable, the course is constructed and adapted to the needs of each student. Classes can be taken online or in person (in the region of the city Berlin, Germany).
To exemplify the centering of the course around some baseline points:
1) Grammar and vocabulary: basic phrases for introducing oneself, nouns and articles, prepositions, conjugation, verbs and their proper "regência e concordância", tenses, adjectives and adverbs, punctuation, accentuation, morphology, syntax, and more;
2) Pronunciation: conversations in brazilian portuguese, tips for easier and more fluid pronunciation, consumption of brazilian media, phonetics and syllable separation, and more;
3) Writing skills: how to structure a text, how to identify the structure in a text (their "sekeleton", that to which their responding to and their main points), tips for clearer and more directing phrasing, proper punctuation in a paragraph, different textual formats and their specific requirements, and more;
4) Brazilian culture: a brief and introductory look into literature in Brazil: from 16th century Quinhentismo to contemporary post-modern poetry, the regions of Brazil and their cultural and linguistic specifics, brazilian music, and much more;
Of course, these are all baseline examples that can be profoundly altered or expanded upon according to the needs of each student.
Furthermore, orientation can be provided for those who seek to learn autonomously, delineating the past path towards mastering the portuguese language.
