Über Roderick
I am an experienced high school chemistry teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience and certifications to teach AP Chemistry and IB Chemistry. Over the course of my career, I have helped many students improve their understanding of chemistry, prepare for demanding exams, and gain confidence in their problem-solving skills.
My approach focuses on helping students understand the “why” behind chemistry concepts, not just memorizing formulas. I break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps and guide students through challenging problems so they can develop the skills needed to succeed independently.
I have extensive experience supporting students in AP Chemistry, IB Chemistry (SL and HL), and general high school chemistry, including exam preparation, and difficult homework topics.
Students and parents appreciate my patient, structured, and supportive teaching style, as well as my deep familiarity with the expectations of advanced chemistry courses.
My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them build confidence and develop a lasting understanding of chemistry.

I am an experienced high school chemistry teacher with over 20 years of classroom experience helping students build confidence and succeed in chemistry. I am certified to teach AP Chemistry and IB Chemistry (both SL and HL) and have worked with students at a wide range of levels—from those needing help with foundational concepts to those aiming for top scores on challenging exams.
My approach focuses on helping students truly understand chemistry, not just memorize formulas. I break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps and help students develop problem-solving strategies that allow them to work independently and confidently.
I can help students with:
AP Chemistry exam preparation
IB Chemistry SL and HL support
High school chemistry coursework
Test and quiz preparation
Building strong problem-solving skills
Strengthening foundational chemistry concepts
During tutoring sessions, I tailor my instruction to each student’s needs. Some students benefit from structured review and guided practice, while others need help working through challenging problems or preparing for upcoming exams.
In addition to helping students improve their grades, my goal is to help them develop confidence in their scientific thinking and a deeper understanding of chemistry.
