• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  My journey with the German language began when I moved to Germany in 2017. As a Chemical Engineering alumnus from NIT Nagpur working in Germany, learning German was initially a necessity for professional integration. However, as I progressed, I developed a genuine interest in the language due to its logical structure, precision, and strong connection to German culture.
  
  Over the years, I achieved business-level fluency and completed my TELC C1 certification. Living and working in Germany allowed me to experience the language beyond textbooks—through real conversations, workplace communication, and everyday life. This practical exposure inspired me to start teaching German, helping students not only learn the language but also understand how it is truly used in real-life situations in Germany.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  My motivation comes from my own experience as a learner navigating the challenges of German grammar, sentence structure, and speaking confidence. I understand how frustrating it can feel when you know the rules but struggle to speak fluently.
  
  When I finally reached a level where I could communicate confidently at work and socially, I realised how empowering language mastery can be. Teaching allows me to guide students through the same journey—with clarity, patience, and structured support. Seeing students overcome their hesitation, speak confidently, and achieve their goals is what motivates me every day. I aim to be the mentor I once needed during my own learning process.

• How does your work help society?

  Language is a bridge between cultures. By teaching German, I help students integrate smoothly into German society—whether for studies, work, or daily life. Strong language skills enable people to communicate confidently, understand cultural expectations, and build meaningful professional and social relationships.
  
  Many of my students are professionals or students preparing for exams, job opportunities, or relocation to Germany. Beyond grammar and vocabulary, I share practical cultural insights and real-life examples that help them feel prepared and confident. By empowering learners with language skills, I contribute to smoother integration and cross-cultural understanding in an increasingly global world.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  One of my early German teachers in Germany is my biggest role model. She had a unique ability to simplify complex grammar concepts and adapt her teaching style to each student’s learning pace. What stood out most was her patience and encouragement, which made learning feel safe and enjoyable.
  
  She taught me that effective teaching is not about rushing through content, but about building confidence and clarity. I strive to bring the same structured, student-centred approach to my own classes—ensuring that learners feel supported while steadily progressing toward their goals.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Outside teaching, I enjoy exploring German culture through travel, hiking, and visiting historical towns and museums. I am also passionate about cooking and enjoy experimenting with German and international cuisines.
  
  Reading—especially non-fiction and cultural topics—is another interest of mine, as it deepens my understanding of language and society. I also enjoy cycling and outdoor activities like Badminton, which help me maintain a balanced lifestyle. Many of these experiences naturally become engaging real-life examples during my classes, making learning more relatable and enjoyable for students.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  One memorable experience was with a professional student who needed to clear the B1 German exam within a short timeframe for career reasons. She had already attempted learning German but struggled significantly with speaking confidence and grammar, which affected her exam preparation.
  
  We started a goal-oriented B1 language mentorship program, focusing on structured grammar revision, targeted speaking practice, and exam-specific strategies. In the initial weeks, progress was slow, and she often felt discouraged. However, with consistent practice, personalised feedback, and real-life speaking scenarios, her confidence gradually improved.
  
  Within just 1.5 months, she successfully cleared the B1 exam with good grades. More importantly, she gained the confidence to speak German naturally in professional and everyday situations. Her transformation reinforced my belief that with the right structure, guidance, and motivation, students can achieve remarkable results—even within tight deadlines.
