Manuel is an exceptional linguist and tutor who has helped me grow as a writer, reader, and speaker of German. One of Manuel's superpowers is his ability to dive deep on any sentence or grammar structure and really help you understand what's going on - and teach tips or mnemonics to improve retention (for example: "RESE NESE MeRMaiN SiR SiR") - concepts I had not learned even in classroom instruction elsewhere. Over the past several months working with him, it's been rewarding to write essays, to read ever-more-complex articles, and to become more comfortable in spoken conversation. Manuel will also thoughtfully offer pronunciation corrections when he notices mistakes, and tailor follow-up exercises based on areas that he sees opportunity for improvement in. I highly recommend working with Manuel.

Manual is an absolutely phenomenal instructor. Well prepared for lessons, highly responsive and he even generates custom learning plans and exercises to work on your weaknesses in a way that fits your learning style. I thoroughly enjoy how Manuel will use your interests and experiences to base his lesson plans around you. I have made tremendous progress (late A2 to mid B2) in my German speaking, comprehension and writing these last 6 months thanks to Manuel and it absolutely would not be possible without him. I highly recommend Manuel to anyone who is seriously attempting to learn German.

When I was in my last year of high school, Manuel helped me prepare for TestDAF. This is the test you need for studying at a German university. Manuel first assessed the gaps in my knowledge of German and then designed a series of lessons for me to address these gaps. I was really impressed by how organised and well prepared Manuel was whenever we had a lesson. He also provided plenty of relevant and interesting study materials and continuous feedback. He focused on the four key components of TestDAF: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Manuel also gave me a lot of advice on exam technique, and in the run-up to the test, we practiced with past test papers. As a result of this, I was well prepared and confident when I took the test. And I managed to get amazing exam results: I achieved grade 5 in all four parts of TestDAF, which is the maximum grade! (Most German universities require at least grade 4 in each part.) I was really happy with this outcome and it helped me get admitted to TU Munich, one of the top universities in Germany, for both mechanical and aerospace engineering. Altogether, I can't recommend Manuel highly enough -- he's a very competent teacher, an excellent exam coach, and it was fun studying with him!
