Über Rotem
Hello all! I am Rotem (26), a guitarist, composer, and music theorist. I am currently a doctoral candidate in the Artistic Research department at the Kunstuniversität Graz and Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) under the supervision of Isabel Mundry and Deniz Peters. I hold a master's degree in composition from Zurich University of the Arts, where I studied with Isabel Mundry and Burkhard Kinzler and focused on composition, historical temperaments, and counterpoint. Prior to that, I completed my bachelor’s in jazz guitar performance at the New England Conservatory, studying guitar with Joe Morris and composition with Stratis Minakakis (2023), following a diploma program at The Center for Jazz Studies in Tel Aviv in partnership with The New School in New York (2021).
I have been performing, touring, and teaching around the world, including in the US, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, and Israel.
Throughout my time in Boston, I collaborated and performed frequently with legendary saxophonist Tony Malaby and drummer Francisco Mela. I also toured the US with my quartet (Eidson/Dubow/Abramovski/Eylam), playing venues such as Downtown Music Gallery and Bushwick Public House in New York, Rhizome in Washington DC, and Never Ending Books in New Haven.
I have performed as a guitarist at the prestigious Red Sea Jazz Festival (2016) and the Jerusalem Jazz Festival (2019). Through an excellence program at the Israel Conservatory in Tel Aviv, I shared the stage with prominent figures including trumpeter Avishai Cohen and saxophonist Daniel Zamir. I also led a trio featuring internationally renowned drummer Roni Kaspi, performing at local venues such as Shablul Jazz, Beit Haamudim, and Hateiva, and performed live with dancers from the Batsheva Dance Company at Hagada Hasmlait in Tel Aviv (2023–2024).
In Switzerland, I was invited to play solo guitar in the free improvisation series spurfrei as a guest artist in Zürich, and performed at the Werkstatt für Improvisierte Musik (WIM) in Zürich (2025–2026). Additionally, I collaborated with Trio zIKzAk for the Urban Waters public art festival in Zürich (2026). My recorded work includes contributing as a guitarist to the group Amdor’s second album, Insomnia (2021), as well as performing on the album OCTAPUS by Caleb Duval (2022).

I have grown up with education both in jazz and classical practices, and therefore am very versatile and fluent with both worlds which i believe creates a unique and interesting perspective for approaching music.
In our lessons, we could focus on anything you'd like to: guitar, music theory, composition, ear training, electronic music, improvisation (jazz and free improvisation), rhythm, and many more.
If you're currently preparing for auditions, exams, or just feel like picking up an instrument or learn about music, feel more than welcome to get in touch!
