Über Nicola
I am a professionally trained opera singer with a BMus from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music (California State University, Long Beach), an MPERF (including MMus structure), and an Advanced Training Certificate in Opera from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (2016). I am currently pursuing an MA in Voice Pedagogy with the Voice Study Centre, combining my performance experience with a scientific approach to vocal training.
I offer secure, healthy classical foundations adaptable to all musical styles, helping students protect their voices from misuse and injury.
I held the role of Malta Airport Foundation Ambassador for a decade. I am a BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation Scholar, DrakeCalleja Trust Scholar, Peace and Prosperity Trust Artist, and maintain an active international career across Europe, the UK, the USA, and the Middle East. I have performed operatic roles and concerts with English National Opera, Opera North, Grange Festival, Opera Holland Park, the Royal Opera House, and many prestigious venues including Cadogan Hall, Barbican Hall, St. John’s Smith Square, and St. James’s Palace.
I have appeared with star tenors Joseph Calleja and Vittorio Grigolo, collaborated with leading conductors and directors, and performed recitals with top accompanists such as Malcolm Martineau and James Baillieu at festivals including the Three Palaces Festival and Oxford Festival of the Arts. My recordings include premieres of Paul Carroll’s works at Abbey Road Studios with the Commonwealth Orchestra. I have performed for HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH The Princess Royal.

I work on achieving vocal power not only through proper breath support, but also through vowel and consonant alignment using the vocal tract’s natural resonators, in particular the tongue, jaw, and mouth shape.
It is not always easy to understand WHERE vowels and consonants are meant to go and what they need to be doing…. Furthermore everyone is different and our perception of resonance is very subjective!
Have you ever had someone tell you: “You need to sing more on pure vowels” or “sing on an Italian AH” and you’re like “umm…. I’m trying?” and it’s clearly not working…
If like me, you’re obsessed with achieving the optimum resonance for your instrument, or you just want to learn to sing louder HEALTHILY (because who doesn’t?!)… Or you just want singing to become EASIER (and legato to finally make sense), I would love to help you on your journey of exploration.

5 lesson package = 5% discount.
10 lessons package = 10% discount (works out to one lesson free!)
Cost of travel can be discussed depending on length of journey, since time needs to be considered.
The consultation lesson is an opportunity to get to know one another, the student's voice and experience (if any), what they would like to learn, hope to achieve, and a chance to discuss my methods and teaching style. We usually spend about half the session doing some light singing.
Cancellation Policy: If I receive less than 24 hours notice for a cancellation, half the amount of the lesson will be charged. If the student does not show, the full amount will be charged (except in extreme circumstances or emergencies). I understand that things can crop up, so if the time needs to be switched, let me know as soon as possible and I will always try to be flexible.
