Über Hans
I'm a native English speaker from the United States with a Doctorate of Music from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Magna Cum Laude), and a career that has taken me through university teaching, international arts leadership, and project coordination across the US, Europe, and Asia.
I served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois, and have since worked in roles ranging from opera studio director in Beijing to regional manager of a technology and business incubator in Germany, to project coordination for a regional museum. Across all of these roles, clear, confident English communication — spoken and written, with colleagues, institutions, and the public — has been the constant thread. I'm currently also an incoming English instructor at Volkshochschule Wartburgkreis.

Decades of professional experience communicating and teaching in English across the US, Europe, and Asia — including university teaching, leading an opera studio in Beijing, coordinating international arts and business projects in Germany, and working daily with international teams, institutions, and the public. I'm fluent in German and have also studied Italian, French, Spanish, and Latin, so I bring a genuine multilingual perspective to teaching — I understand firsthand what real language learning takes.
Lessons are conducted online by video call and tailored to what you actually need: everyday conversational confidence, business and professional English, or preparation for interviews and workplace communication. Each session combines structured practice with natural conversation, and I adjust pace and focus based on your level and goals — from beginners to advanced speakers. I'm happy to arrange a first lesson to find the right fit.
