Über Keturah
I am an artist from Australia, specialising in soft pastels. I have been painting all my life and for the past ten years have been painting with pastels. I have had artists mentor me along the way, and the rest I have learnt through practicing and teaching myself. I am inspired by nature, the human form and the animal kingdom. I aim to bring beauty and light through my work and hope it speaks to the soul. I enjoy teaching people, particularly on something I am so passionate about, as painting bring me so much joy, to share with others is a gift.

Soft pastels are a beautiful medium in which to explore your unique creativity. They allow you to play with your hands on the paper, creating realistic hardline effects or soft ethereal abstract moods. Whatever you are inspired to paint or express from within yourself, once you learn specific and basic techniques for using soft pastels, you will be able to practice and develop your own unique style, and creative artworks of beauty and lasting joy. In this course, I will first listen to what you would like to learn and meet you where you are with your painting knowledge, beginner or intermediate, or wherever you are. Then I will take you through everything I have learned over the years as a pastel artist, from the best papers and pastels to use, to how to begin a painting and the method in which I apply the colours to the paper. How to create sharp lines and how to smudge and blend. Finally I will take you through the final stages of finishing an artwork and protecting it. Pastels really are so much fun to play with. I just love them. But I remember before I was taught how to use them properly, I found them messy and uncomfortable. So for this reason, if you are interested in learning how to paint with pastels, I would love to share with you everything I have been taught from other pastel artists over the years and have incorporated into and use daily in my own practice.
