Über den Unterricht

I've been working as an English teacher for a major language company since 2007, and have been working as a private tutor (teaching currently mainly French, German and piano and guitar) teaching adults and children alike. I love languages and am teaching myself Spanish, Swedish and Icelandic.

As a lifelong language learner, I am aware of the difficulties and best methods for learning a language well, including memorisation techniques for learning vocabulary. My preferred method for language learning (and a huge part of my work over the last 10 years) is conversation, however I am skilled at creating engaging writing or reading activities and am passionate about creative writing, which I have also been teaching over the past year.

I enjoy working with children of all ages (though I have taught adults as well) and have taught classes for 2-17 year olds. I am skilled at bringing out the best in children and am dedicated to a positive learning environment, as I believe it's the key to success!

My methods involve making the lessons as fun as possible, by using a mixture of games as well as concentrated tasks which help really build language understanding and as I have an interest in etymology, I can really help learners understand the origins of words and patterns to help them decipher the meaning behind a text.

I also respond well to learners needs: no lesson is the same, as all learners will have different needs!
