Über Matthew
Hello! I am a native English speaker from Canada with an MSc in International Business from Queen’s University Belfast. Having studied in a fully English-language international education and worked across Europe in English, I understand the challenges of communicating in a global environment.
A Bit About Me:
When I’m not teaching or analysing business trends, I love staying active. I’m an advanced open-water diver, an avid skier, and I enjoy hiking and golf. I’m also a big fan of strategy games and trivia! I bring this same energy and curiosity into our lessons, making learning English engaging and fun.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your language goals!

My Teaching Approach
I believe language learning should be practical and immediately applicable. My method combines structured lesson planning with real-world scenarios. I do not just teach grammar; I teach you how to use English to achieve your professional goals.
Typical Lesson Structure
Warm-up & Review: We start with a brief conversation to activate your English and review key vocabulary from our previous session.
Core Concept: We focus on a specific skill (e.g., negotiation phrases, email etiquette, or terminology) using authentic materials like news articles, case studies, etc.
Active Practice: You will engage in role-plays, simulations, or structured speaking exercises where you apply the new concepts. I provide immediate, constructive feedback on pronunciation and clarity.
Wrap-up & Action Plan: We summarise key takeaways, and I assign a small, practical task for you to complete before our next lesson.
Who Are My Lessons For?
Casual Learners: Students ranging from beginner to past intermediate levels to master nuance, idioms, and cultural context.
(University) Students: Those needing support with academic English, essay structuring, or thesis defences.
Professionals: Individuals looking to improve Business English, prepare for interviews, or enhance presentation skills.
Special Circumstances
With a background in project management and data analysis, I am particularly skilled at helping students in finance, tech, and international development sectors. I am based in Bratislava but offer flexible remote lessons to students worldwide.
