Über Hal
I've taught English as a second language in several settings--university, trade school, and privately--since 2011, in France and Germany. I'm a lifelong language learner myself (C1 French, A2 German) and understand the needs of a learner.
When you read the section regarding my teaching methods that I am determined to provide you with lessons that are tailored to your needs rather than a generic set of lessons that might cover material irrelevant to you. As someone who taught himself French, I appreciate the importance of a personalized experience.

I work mostly with B- or C-level English speakers who are seeking to improve their English for professional, artistic, or other compelling reasons.
I'm a no-nonsense teacher who approaches my student's learning in a systematic fashion.
First, I assess his or her goals and needs and create a path going forward to match each.
Second, I will use a variety of media and approaches to facilitate his or her learning and provide content that best suits him or her.
Finally, although a perfectionist, I focus on my students' fluency first and then help them to fine-tune what they've learned afterwards, to the degree they are comfortable with.
