Über Reese
Hi, I'm Reese!
I grew up in the US and have a European background
I loved English from an early age: both practicing the intricacies of grammar and vocabulary and being creative with analyzing literature and communicating complex ideas!
I found I love learning about how humans speak in general, so went on to learn several other languages from beginner to proficient (A1-C2) while traveling around the world (including German, French, Spanish, Italian, Hebrew, Korean, Dutch, and more). But the way I learned best came not just from classroom repeitions but mostly from meeting interesting people and having a compelling reason to learn! To untangle the puzzle of language and get wrapped up in a new culture: music, movies, and fun conversations!
I decided to study Linguistics at my university, MIT, in order to go deeper into languages! But unlike in Europe, this is very theoretical work on an overview of all human languages ;-) Later I also started to study science and engineering, which I am currently completing my education in, through my master's in Austria!
But I retained my love for languages and my mother tongue of English, and I enjoy coaching others not just in the specifics of the language but in feeling better about their communication abilities and themselves, and finding joy in learning another language and what it brings: being able to communicate more with interesting people, have more opportunities, and gain a deeper understanding of the human condition and mind :-)

-About Me: love learning languages and helping guide others on their skill levels! I believe everyone can learn and deserves patience, encouragement, and fitting lessons to their needs and interests to be enjoyable and encouraging :-) I can also speak C2 German and currently study engineering in my master's program
-Exams: helped clients practice not only English but test-taking skills (TOEFL, IELTS, ACT, SAT) with fun, real-life articles and events to summarize and discuss :-)
-Proofreading: enjoy correcting and giving helpful feedback on people's written work and oral presentations :-)
-Grammar: like to explain the details of grammar points and create practice exercises that help explain and utilize them
-Vocabulary: can help expand
clients' vocabulary with mind-maps and helpful exercises of finding similar words
-Culture: can help explain some of the cultural trends with using English in the US, such as modern and inclusive formal terms and formulations as well as slang use
-Fun!: I believe this is the best way to learn! And I'm passionate about making lesson plans enjoyable, creative, whimsical yet grounded, and usefully adapted to my clients' interests and needs. Because I believe everyone should have fun learning! :-)
