Über Başak

I’ve always had a deep love for language and culture, which has shaped both my studies and my teaching journey. I studied American Culture and Literature for my BA, spending an incredible year living in the U.S., where I fully immersed myself in the language and way of life. After returning, I pursued an MA in American Studies, exploring everything from political science and sociology to culture and literature—always following my curiosity about how language connects us to the world.

Teaching has been a natural extension of that passion. I worked as a TESOL teacher for a year in the UK, helping students unlock the doors that English opens. Now, I’m teaching two wonderful students from China, focusing on building their confidence and fluency. My lessons are shaped by my own experiences of learning and living abroad, and I aim to make each session inspiring, practical, and fun. Whether it’s preparing for IELTS, perfecting grammar, or just feeling more at home in English, I’m here to help my students reach their goals.

I like to make my lessons engaging and flexible, adapting to the needs of each student. My approach is creative—I use storytelling, real-world examples, and interactive activities to make learning English practical and fun. A typical two-hour lesson usually starts with a warm-up, like a quick conversation or a thought-provoking question, followed by a focused session on skills like speaking, writing, or grammar. We then dive into practical exercises—mock IELTS tasks, role-playing, or creative writing, depending on the student’s goals.

I work with students of all ages—from 10 years old to adults, including university learners and professionals. I’m patient and encouraging and I try to make every class not just a lesson, but an experience that builds confidence and curiosity.
