Über Mary
I have been teaching privately in the Canton of Vaud for over ten years. I have numerous recommendations from families, in Rolle, Genolier, Nyon, having prepared very young children for the Cambridge Young Learners English exams. For those who do not wish to take the Cambridge exams, I offer introductory English lessons and, above all, aim to instil a love of learning English. I also teach older students to assist them with their English homework.
It is very important to teach in an enjoyable way, as we know that children enjoy their lessons and learn better when they are having fun.
My hobby is aviation. I obtained my pilot’s licence at the age of 17 and participated in various flying competitions during my youth.
I practise meditation, which has an undeniable impact on my students: it improves their concentration, reduces their anxiety about speaking the language, and fosters an atmosphere of trust and calm.

Hello, my name is Mary.
My students are often surprised when I tell them that speaking with clarity, fluency, and confidence did not come easily to me. Yes, I am an English teacher with more than 30 years of experience, and my expertise lies in helping others gain confidence. However, that does not mean these skills came naturally to me—not in my second language, nor in English. Have you ever thought, "I am just too shy to speak with confidence," or "I can never be as confident as someone else"?
Many believe that extroverts are naturally confident, while introverts are not. In reality, introverts can also be confident speakers by using their natural ability to think before they speak.
That is how I can help your children and teenagers to improve their English.
The best way to master English is to start very early, allowing children to develop the right habits from a young age. This is why most of the young people who take lessons with me began learning English at the age of five. They have attended lessons regularly, which has enabled them to achieve excellent academic results, pass their Cambridge exams with flying colours, and go even further – in other words, some have built a solid foundation that has allowed them to study overseas.
I have also developed a specific method for children with dyslexia and hyperactivity. I have observed that these children can benefit from learning English at a young age. Indeed, early English learning for children with language disorders offers unique advantages: it shifts the focus to spoken language, which is less anxiety-inducing, stimulates cognitive flexibility, and helps to normalise the experience of making mistakes.
