Über Enda
I grew up in Ireland and always had a strong interest in literature, film, art, and philosophy. I completed my bachelors degree in Philosophy and French in Cork, and immediately emigrated to the UK to continue my studies, achieving an MA in Philosophy from UCL a year later. I was very fortunate to attend lectures and tutorials both in Cork and at UCL with some of the greatest and most inspiring philosophical thinkers in the world. After my masters degree, I decided to take a break from academic philosophy and consider alternative career paths. Although I loved reading and writing philosophy, and always will, I was not content to pursue a career path producing obscure, scholastic papers in journals that few people are ever likely to read. After some time away, I therefore decided to renew my passion for art and was accepted to the prestigious MFA in Fine Art programme at Goldsmiths. I thrived in this environment, finding a new mode to express the philosophical and theoretical ideas with greater freedom than I had experienced in academia. Since graduating, I have worked both as both an artist and academic researcher, publishing theoretical and literary texts, as well as exhibiting my work publicly in galleries. I have given talks at international symposia and taken part in numerous art residencies, where I have sought to develop my professional art and theoretical career in tandem. I am currently working towards applying to PhD programmes for the 23-24 academic year.

Note: although I'm currently learning German, my level is not yet to a standard where I would be comfortable teaching in German. Therefore, I only give classes in English for the time being. I apologise for any disappointment this may cause, please feel free to reach out with any queries about accessibility.
I am offering tailored one-to-one tutorials in Fine Art practice for professionals, graduate students, undergraduate and prospective undergraduate students alike. I offer guided classes with a specific emphasis on developing the critical concerns and research background of your practice, including specific critical feedback on individual artworks, portfolio presentation and artist statements, or research and criticism essays and texts. I provide my services for artists working in any media or field, however I have additional specialist knowledge in mixed media and moving image art forms, as well as sculptural, sound, and installation based work.
I firmly believe that the best way to learn anything is through encouragement, positive reinforcement, and developing a genuine enthusiasm for, and confidence in, what you are doing. For this reason, it is an important goal of mine to take a particular interest in the personal and professional development of all of my students. I always strive to help you achieve your objectives with rigorous feedback and structured lesson plans, but also care, support, and encouragement so that you can develop confidence in your own abilities.
I graduated with distinction from my MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2020, and have since exhibited in numerous public galleries and participated on international residencies. I have also published critical texts on contemporary art practice, and presented at international symposia on subjects in contemporary art. Rather than offering technical support, my emphasis is on developing your artistic practice through connecting it to a broader set of theoretical and critical concerns that can help you to articulate your work in a contemporary art context. My tutorials cater to all professionals and students working in the field of contemporary art, including curators and critics wishing to deepen their knowledge or advance their professional career.
Tutorials are always tailor-made to meet your specific needs. The initial introductory session is dedicated to identifying key areas to work on together and develop in your practice. I offer lesson plans on writing artist statements and expressing your critical concerns when presenting your work, grant and professional application help, and art writing. I also provide reading lists and sessions dedicated to developing an artistic research agenda, something which has proved to be particularly popular with many of my past students. Finally, I provide one-to-one studio crits to help you identify some areas in which you may wish to develop or improve upon your own work. I understand all too well how anxious and vulnerable one can feel when presenting artistic and creative work. This work is, after all, an extension of your person, and it is often hard to separate artistic criticism from personal criticism for this reason. I always strive to provide a supportive, caring, and encouraging environment, enabling you to develop your work by looking at its strengths as much as its possible weaknesses. My goal is above all that you feel confident presenting your work, and find joy, not anxiety, in the act of making it.
I offer sessions to individuals of all levels. Whether you are a high-school student seeking help to develop your portfolio for applying to a university course, or a professional with several years experience looking to expand your theoretical and critical knowledge of contemporary art theory, I provide detailed lesson plans based on your needs, to help you succeed in your professional or academic career.
