Über Chandana

Hello! I'm Chandana, and I'm currently pursuing my Master's degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), Germany. I also hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics (Honours) from the University of Delhi, India.

Mathematics has always been a subject I've enjoyed, especially the process of understanding how things work and finding different ways to solve problems. This interest is what led me to pursue mathematics further in my studies.

Alongside my studies, I teach mathematics online to school students from India and the US. What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing students gradually become more confident with topics they once found difficult. It's especially rewarding when a student who was initially struggling starts solving problems independently.

I understand that mathematics can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly for younger students. I try to be patient, approachable, and encouraging so that students feel comfortable asking questions and learning without pressure.

For me, teaching is not just about helping students improve their grades, but also about helping them develop curiosity, confidence, and a positive attitude towards mathematics.

I believe every student learns differently, and my aim is to make mathematics easier to understand, less stressful, and hopefully even enjoyable!

I'm currently teaching students in Grades 4–10 from both India and the US online. Through my tutoring experience, I've realized how important patience is, especially when working with younger students. Some students understand a concept quickly, while others need a little more time and practice, and that's completely okay. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace.

**My Teaching Approach**

I always try to make sure students understand *why* something works rather than just memorizing formulas or following steps without understanding them.

I like to break down difficult topics into smaller, simpler steps and use examples that students can easily relate to. I also encourage them to think independently, ask questions, and try solving problems themselves instead of just watching me solve them.

Every student has different strengths and areas where they struggle, so I adjust my lessons depending on what they need. I also provide practice questions, worksheets, and revision exercises to help them become more confident with each topic.

**What to Expect from My Lessons**

I usually start by getting to know the student and understanding which topics they feel comfortable with and where they need extra help. From there, we go through concepts step by step, work on a few problems together, and then I encourage them to try solving questions on their own.

Whether a student needs help with homework, preparing for an exam, catching up on difficult topics, or simply strengthening their basics, I'm happy to adapt my lessons to their needs.

Most importantly, I want my students to feel that mathematics isn't something they need to be afraid of. With a little patience, practice, and the right guidance, I believe every student can improve and become more confident in their abilities.
